Paint the Earth is conveniently located at 316 West Franklin St. in the heart of Chapel Hill. Click the map for a larger, interactive version, or see below for specific directions.

From Durham: From 15-501 where it intersects I-40: start counting traffic lights. After 4th light the road forks (1.7 miles). Bear right on to Franklin St. Stay on Franklin St. up the long hill. Go past Planetarium and UNC campus on left. Next go through downtown area (2 pedestrian cross walks) and cross the main town intersection of Franklin and Columbia Streets. Proceed past next two lights (total 3.1 miles) — Paint the Earth is on the right side of the street, immediately after Ham’s Restaurant, which has a large Carolina Blue awning. Across the street is the new Franklin Hotel.

From Raleigh: Take I-40 West towards Chapel Hill/Durham. Take exit 270(15-501). Go left at top of the ramp. You are on 15-501 South towards Chapel Hill. Once over I-40, start counting traffic lights. After 4th light the road forks (1.7 miles). Bear right on to Franklin St. Stay on Franklin St. up the long hill. Go past Planetarium and UNC campus on left. From Pittsboro and south: Take 15-501 North towards Chapel Hill. 15-501 turns into Columbia Street at the bridge intersecting 15-501 and 54. Continue up Columbia St. past Memorial Hospital on right, past Carolina Inn on left (campus will be on your right). When you pass Carolina Inn, get in the right lane. Go straight to Franklin Street, then turn left on Franklin. Proceed past next two lights — Paint the Earth is on the right side of the street, immediately after Ham’s Restaurant, which has a large Carolina Blue awning. Across the street is the new Franklin Hotel.

From Greensboro: Take 1-85 North to I-40 East (at Hillsborough). Take Exit 266 (says Hwy. 86 / Chapel Hill). Go right at top of the ramp. Go straight 4.1 miles, turn left on Franklin. Proceed past next two lights — Paint the Earth is on the right side of the street, immediately after Ham’s Restaurant, which has a large Carolina Blue awning. Across the street is the new Franklin Hotel.

Parking Options
On-street metered parking always available (meters are checked 8:00am-6:00pm, Monday - Saturday). Municipal lot in the 400 block of Franklin Street (next to 411 Restaurant) is also metered and is monitored from 8:00am - 6:00pm Monday-Saturday. This lot accepts credit card payments. There are also lots and decks on East Rosemary Street that are walking distance from the studio. We keep lots of quarters on hand to make life easier.
